The Garden 03:41
The Garden Beneath the low growing ivy I put a bird to rest I made a cross of branches in the garden of moroccan mint On the slope facing east Someone dug a secret cave But we were told to stay inside The garden of moroccan mint Now I take the train for hours just to see the lake we used to walk around when you were yourself and I was younger When you were yourself and I was younger

I left my head I saw the sparrow in the air I jumped in vain hit the ceiling They tell me I should eat it all let feathers fall from the ceiling The tiger came around at last it was my friend from the ceiling and it will never leave again my only friend from the ceiling The day they told me he had died I left my head in the ocean The day they told me he had died I left my head in the ocean The day they told me he had died I left my head I don't know where they took him too while my insticts were sleeping the sparrow and the tiger knew what I lost in dreaming

Woolgathering The absence made the gloomy waters rise The spirit slowly slipped away Silently it lingers in my mind I found the way to make it stay Got of the train Woolgathering I left behind the lonesome sigh I feel so close to what I've lost I’m on my own but I am not alone Not alone All for the rescue of the wind that blows All for the greeting of dreams that flow All for the seeking for the joy untold only to cherish what needs to be adored Got of the train Woolgathering I’m on my own But im not alone I’m on my own Noone in my arms  or at my feet Noone above the moving sky Noone to follow Noone to greet So now only I can say Goodbye.

Rearrange the flowers You spoke of dresses made of feathers flew into my eye like a cluster fly I spoke for days about the weather cheeks so rosy-shy silent horrify All I do is rearrange the flowers I don’t know what else to do I’m the silent sadness in the water Slowly rushing over you We started ironing the bedding couldn’t get it straight though we tried for days I used to think our minds were threading but now I can’t make sense of the things you say All I do is rearrange the flowers I dont know what else to do I’m the silent sadness in the water Slowly rushing over you the flowers are purple and blue the flowers are purple and blue the flowers are purple and blue

I guess we can still be friends us three Can't we? I guess we can still be friends us three Can't we?

Salty face of You I need you to dream Dream like you used to dream but don't lose your eyes in days gone by Please understand I know of your tired hands You can’t feel the sun through your silent night Salty face of you Something will come true Salty face of you In a stranger blue It’s easy to strand in chamomile flower land But its not a place where one stays for good So push to the left this curtain so ponderous And look for your early ode of faith Salty face of you Something will come true Salty face of you In a stranger blue

Running in water New 'running in water' My new 'running in water', asleep All sons and daughters I summon the blackest of sheep New 'running in water' My new 'running in water', asleep All sons and daughters I see you arrive, I am pleased Please, don't grow old again, she weeps I saw the devil in my sleep Please don't grow old again, she weeps I saw the devil in my dreams It stays inside It stays inside the house Make it your friend Make it your silent spouse Make it your friend It stays inside the house Make it your friend Make it your silent spouse it stays inside it stays inside..

Before Return In between these narrow streets where you here the engines sing Slowly walks a humble guest in the light of rainbows on limited time in the light of rainbows on limited time in the light of rainbows on limited time A little more time before returning to the hills hills of green hills of green hills of green hills of green waves of the white and blue waves of the white and blue waves of the white and blue Just a little more time For the humble guest In rainbow light

about

Coming up from severe illness and moving from Copenhagen to a rural area in Denmark, Astrid Fabrin aka A. Fabrin narrates from her own life on her first solo release ’Before Return’. Cutting her teeth as a film composer and as a part of the former ambient duo Kai Oke – alongside Sofie Birch – A. Fabrin is schooled in ethereal and impressionistic sounds. On ’Before Return’, she takes the centre stage with a personal and profound debut album.

Settling in her late mother-in-law’s house in the Danish national park of Mols Bjerge, A. Fabrin completed the album, which in more than one sense is a testament to fate. ‘Before Return’ is a coming-of-age record that sees A. Fabrin depart her hazy surroundings, embrace darkness and finding a path in life.

In A. Fabrin’s own words, ‘Before Return’ is a sadcore-release suffused with mystery and melancholy, aiming for a hope towards the end and with distinctive references to some of her biggest musical inspirations; Portishead’s Beth Gibbons; the occult force of Fever Ray; the chic goth of Nico.

According to A. Fabrin, the lead single ‘Running In Water’ is about learning to ‘hygge’ with the devil, and the lofi-animated music video accompanying the single is a lime-colored salute to the most trippy parts of the brain. Setting the tone for the album with its electroacoustic blend of cello, guitar, drums and synths, A. Fabrin’s yearning voice is a faithful companion throughout the 10 tracks.
